summary: Here
quick rundown: Paris, 1910's. Former prima ballerina, now married to her old patron, Robert de Leblanc, Justine, had to give up her career and the dancing she loved above all else, when she gave birth to twins, Lilith and Jean-Paul, fathered by a man without money or status, whom Justine couldn't marry. As such the children grew up in a rich, high society household, but without their father's presence and without their mother's love, since Justine could only detest them for ending her life as an étoile. However, perhaps to feel closer to her, both her children pursued ballet themselves and were talented out in the art form, coming to dance together on the grand Opera stage. Especially the daughter, Lilith, became admired and Justine's envy was roused. When she was named an étoile after dancing her brother's piece, the Pas de Deux of Light, Justine forbade her to perform it anymore, but pleading for the dancing she also loved, Lilith clung to her mother. Justine tried to make her let go by pushing her away harshly, her fan striking the girl across the eyes, so she was seriously injured. Although efforts were made to save her eyesight, it proved impossible and to spare her brother and her mother the guilt and disappointment, Lilith ran away. After that, the relationship between Justine and Jean-Paul deterioriated, and they would never truly reconcile, even after Lilith returnd, sick and dying, to Paris to be reunited with her family.

medical info: It's implied that she went through a difficult birth that made it impossible for her to return to dancing afterwards, but this is never specified in detail.
offensive subjects/triggers: The eye trauma of her daughter is part of her background story, since she caused it. Very dysfunctional family bonds with a mother who couldn't love her children and an instance of physical child abuse.
